Only is not lonely has been Hobonichi’s own motto since the company was founded in 1998. Here it’s gold foil-pressed onto a compact, lightweight faux leather cover closed with an elastic band — a quiet reminder that what you write inside is yours alone.
Lilac here is soft and faintly grey, lovely without ever turning sweet — a colour that suits a cover you will open every day for a year. The motto is stamped here in silver foil, and there is a second, smaller message hidden in the pocket where the techo slips in: “Happy nothing special day!” A good thing to find on an ordinary Tuesday.
