2027 Hobonichi Accessories: Weeks Pencil Board: Yumi Kitagishi - Animal Condo

Yumi Kitagishi is a Japanese illustrator and picture book author whose hand-drawn worlds are populated by white cats, rabbits and other small animals going quietly about their lives. Her scenes reward a second look — there is always a detail you missed the first time. She has been part of the Hobonichi Artist Collection for several years running, and for 2027 her white cat and friends move into a village and a dollhouse.

Animal Condo is a red-roofed apartment building with a whole cast of animals living in it, each window holding its own small story. The reverse is a vivid yellow-green, with more scenes from inside the building.
