Six Toronto-based Asian-Canadian women artists came together for this one: Queenie of Queenie's Cards, Sandra of Bowlcut Paper Goods, Celine of On the Bright Side, Tanya of TonTon Art, Stephanie of Fish Designs Co, and Doris of Love Lettering. The idea was simple, each artist picked a favourite Asian snack from childhood and illustrated it in their own hand, so every month brings a completely different visual style built around the same shared thread of memory.
What comes through is less "calendar" and more a small archive of growing up, the specific snacks that meant something, filtered through six distinct artistic voices working in the same city. Each illustration measures 4 x 6 inches, housed in a calendar sized at 6 inches wide, 5.5 inches tall, and 2.5 inches deep.
Produced as a one-time, limited run, once this sells through, it won't be reprinted.
