Suma has been the setting for many stories and has been written about in many songs since ancient times. Along with the Kobe-like scenery where the sea and mountains are the closest, it is also famous as a place of retreat for the Heian aristocrats, such as "The Tale of Genji" and "Matsukaze Murasame". The world of that historical story is expressed in deep purple, which is considered to be a noble color.
