A collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the world’s largest museum of applied and decorative arts. Drawing on a collection spanning five thousand years, these designs bring the museum’s textiles, patterns and treasures onto paper and cloth.
The front cover carries Leicester, a wallpaper pattern drawn in 1912 by John Henry Dearle, who took over as Morris & Co.’s chief designer after William Morris’s death. Leaves and blossom turn through one another in a dense, orderly repeat — the sort of pattern you can look at for a long time without finishing it.
The Weeks is the slim one: a week across the left page, a grid page on the right, and a long run of grid pages at the back. The cover design is bound into the book itself, so there is nothing to slip on and nothing else to buy — it arrives ready to be written in, and it bends comfortably into a coat pocket or a small bag.
