tanakadaisuke is the label of costume designer and embroidery artist Daisuke Tanaka, founded in 2021 and shown at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO. The work is romantic and unmistakably hand-made: beadwork and embroidery built up stitch by stitch. This is his first collaboration with Hobonichi.
Starlight began as an embroidery piece: a moon and a scattering of stars built up from countless beads, sequins and bijoux, then photographed and printed onto the cover so the stitching stays visible. The drifting stardust is picked out in silver foil, which makes for something chic and quietly romantic.
The Weeks is the slim one: a week across the left page, a grid page on the right, and a long run of grid pages at the back. The cover design is bound into the book itself, so there is nothing to slip on and nothing else to buy — it arrives ready to be written in, and it bends comfortably into a coat pocket or a small bag.
