MOTHER is the role-playing game series written by Shigesato Itoi — released outside Japan as EarthBound. The connection to Hobonichi runs deeper than a licence: Itoi founded Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun in 1998 and launched the first Hobonichi Techo for 2002, so the same writer stands behind both the games and the planner.
Mr. Saturn is woven into necktie fabric here rather than printed onto it. The ground is a soft apricot matched to his complexion, and his face — red ribbon and all — is scattered evenly across the cloth, so wherever you set the book down, somebody is looking back at you.
The Weeks is the slim one: a week across the left page, a grid page on the right, and a light hardcover with enough give to bend into a coat pocket or a small bag.
