Only is not lonely has been Hobonichi's own motto since the company was founded in 1998. Here it's gold foil-pressed onto a compact, lightweight faux leather cover closed with an elastic band — a quiet reminder that what you write inside is yours alone.
Ramune is the pale, glassy blue-green of the soda — cool, clean and unmistakably summer, right down to the memory of shaking the marble loose from the neck of the bottle. It is a colour that seems to lower the temperature of a desk. The motto is stamped here in silver foil, and there is a second, smaller message hidden in the pocket where the techo slips in: "Happy nothing special day!" A good thing to find on an ordinary Tuesday.
Sized for the A5 book, which slips into the pocket inside. An elastic band holds the cover closed and a pen hook stores a pen by its clip, and that is the whole specification — slim, light, and easy to carry every day without thinking about it.
