The Tea Journal: A Taiwanese Tea Tasting with Mika Sato

Paper Plus Cloth

WORKSHOP DETAILS
Date: Oct 11, 2025 [10:00am - 11:30am] or Nov. 15, 2025 [10:00am - 11:30am]

Join us for an immersive tea tasting led by Mika Sato, designer, ceramic artist, and tea enthusiast. Born in Hiroshima, Japan, Mika grew up surrounded by nature and the traditional flower art of ikebana—elements that continue to influence her work today. After discovering her passion for pottery in 2010, she began blending her love of botanicals, ceramics, and Japanese design aesthetics into a distinct creative style.

In this workshop, Mika will guide participants through a sensory journey of four unique Taiwanese Oolongs, each with its own story, aroma, and flavour profile. You’ll learn about the regions these teas come from, how terroir and processing influence taste, and how to brew each tea for the best experience. Small snacks will be served alongside the teas to enhance and highlight their flavour profiles. This is a relaxed, hands-on session designed for tea lovers of all levels.

Each participant will also receive a tea tasting notebook to record their impressions during the workshop — a keepsake you can continue to use for your own future tea tastings.

Good to Know:

  • We recommend having breakfast beforehand. We’ll be tasting quite a bit of tea, so it’s best to have something in your stomach. Tea is also wonderful for digestion, so it will make the whole experience even nicer
