Vol. 458 is a tribute to birding, specifically the 458 migratory bird species estimated to regularly travel through the United States and Canada, a number foil-stamped in black on every barrel.
Each of the twelve pencils in the set features a soft gradient finish drawn from the plumage of one of four North American birds: the Clark's Grebe, Mallard, Green Jay, and Black Rail. Three pencils of each design come in every box, making for a set that is as visually striking on a desk as it is satisfying to write with. The 12-pack gift box doubles as a pencil cup.
