This A5 writing pad features 200 sheets of Sanzen Tomoe River S, the newly reengineered version of the beloved Tomoe River paper. After the original production was halted in 2021, Miyoshi Paper in Kanazawa, Japan took on the challenge of preserving its legacy—using decades of experience with lightweight notebook papers to create a version that lives up to its name.
Made with a redesigned blend of hardwood and softwood pulp, Sanzen Tomoe River S offers a smoother surface, greater consistency, and improved resistance to ink bleedthrough. The sheet is 5 microns thicker than the original, giving it added durability while retaining the same lightweight feel. It also resists wrinkling when used with friction pens—making it practical for modern everyday writing.
In Yamamoto Paper's in-house fountain pen tests, inks—even those with low viscosity, like HERBIN’s pinks and reds—dried quickly and performed beautifully with no bleedthrough. Part of the Yamamoto Paper WRITING PAD series, this pad is bound on one side and includes a ruled underlay sheet (with both 12 mm lines and 6 mm grid) to guide your writing.
