OEDA Letterpress is a small independent letterpress shop located in the Osaka Prefecture of Japan since December of 2013. Each letterpress item is hand pressed on their Heidelberg letterpress machine making every single item created by the small team all the more special. Anything from this company would make a lovely addition to your stationery collection or a treasured gift for any recipient.
These beautifully textured letterpress stickers are based on a proof print from EDO GARDENIG’s “Toy Picture” series, All About Trees. The design is pulled from a kyogozuri—a black line draft used as a printing guide in traditional ukiyo-e production. In this process, the artist’s original sketch is transferred to woodblocks and carved to create a base layer for color application, much like film plate making in modern offset printing.
Part of the Omochae tradition, which were playful and educational woodblock prints made for children from the late Edo to Meiji periods, this design sits at the intersection of art, craft, and history. With rich texture and quiet detail, these stickers are a unique way to add traditional Japanese print culture to journals, letters, or creative projects.
