Botanist Dr. Tomitaro Makino created a botanical illustration of wild cherry blossoms in 1900 which is featured on this cover of Weeks with an April start.

The drawing of cherry blossoms drawn with precise lines is the second illustration of a partial drawing following the first illustration showing the whole shape. At the time, Dr. Makino chose the wild cherry tree as the representative plant of Japan for the front page of "Dainippon Botanical Chronicles." In the second illustration, the branches, leaves, fruits, and seeds of wild cherry blossoms are observed and drawn, and arranged in a well-balanced manner for each part. The rough texture of the cloth cloth cover is an image of a canvas. It is a notebook that allows you to live your daily life with an excellent observation eye and botanical illustrations backed by knowledge and experience . Approximately 120 years ago, during the Meiji period , he observed with a magnifying glass and a microscope, and created a diagram that shows the structure of various parts. Using a maki-e brush that bundles mouse hair, even the details of the leaves and fruits are shaded.
