In this workshop complete with hand-outs, you will be learning about Gothic calligraphy styles. Gothic styles refer to family of lettering comprising of both angular and rounded styles. Your cards and invitations will take on a whole new flair! This versatile and attractive family of scripts is well within the reach of beginners as well as experienced calligraphers. Returning students from previous workshops are invited and encouraged to learn this new style.
The workshop will start with an introduction to a basic Textualis Quadrata that can be used as the basis for other styles with minor modifications. We will start with the basics strokes, spacing and proportion of the miniscule (small) letters and continue with an introduction to the majuscule (capital) letters. We will also talk about the families of letters as well as letter and word spacing. At the end of the workshop you will have a good idea of how to write Gothic scripts and you will have developed the basic skills needed to form good letters.
